There is a section of Food Forest at the Climate Action Campus that was planted a few years ago with over 30 fruit trees. We are planning to establish other plants within the FF to build up the varying layers of the ecosystems. See below for more info....

About the event
Food Forests are an edible ecosystem designed using permaculture principles and are created to mimic natural forest systems.
These are diverse, multi-functional layered systems that can be established in small urban backyards to large-scale lifestyle blocks and are popular for growing food, supporting wildlife, and building healthy soil.
A key element in the design is the layered growing system of canopy trees, smaller trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants, groundcovers, root crops, and climbers. Plants are chosen for their edible products, soil-building & restoration, attracting beneficial wildlife; and are placed in guilds: a group of species that have similar growing requirements and/or play a role within the growing community.
The guilds will be designed by the Food Forest Study Group that will meet to propagate, care and maintain the plants and space whilst learning about these food systems, plant knowledge and how to incorporate these principles into their own spaces.
